There will be a number of road closures and expanded public transit hours on Saturday night for a city-wide contemporary art event.
Nuit Blanche is set to start at sunset and run until sunrise on Sunday in various areas around Toronto, including Queen West, Yorkville, Chinatown and Yonge-Dundas Square.
The TTC will be running all-night service on the Yonge-University and Bloor-Danforth lines. Trains will run on those lines from 1:30 a.m. until 8 a.m. The Scarborough and Sheppard lines will operate regularly on Saturday night and Sunday morning schedules.
There will be increased service on the following bus and streetcar routes on Saturday night:
- 509 Harbourfront
- 510 Spadina
- 307 Bathurst
- 29 Dufferin
- 196 York University Rocket
GO Transit will have extra trains running to and from Union Station on Saturday night.
There will be two extra homebound train trips running along the Lakeshore East and West GO lines early Sunday morning. There will also be special service along the Milton, Kitchener, Barrie and Stouffville lines with one Toronto-bound trip early Saturday evening and one homebound trip early Sunday.
The following roads will be closed downtown for pedestrians and art installations:
- John Street: Closed between Stephanie Street and Wellington Avenue starting at 5 pm Saturday, October 1 until 9 am Sunday, October 2
- Queen Street West: Closed between Yonge Street and Spadina Avenue starting at 5 pm Saturday, October 1 until 8 am Sunday, October 2
- Bay Street: Partial and full closures between Dundas Street West and Queens Quay starting at 12 pm Saturday, October 1 until 10 am Sunday, October 2
- McCaul Street: Partial closure (southbound lanes only) between Dundas Street West and Queen Street West starting at 6 pm Saturday, October 1 until 8 am Sunday, October 2
