A male victim suffered burn injuries after a fire broke out near propane cylinders located at the back of a Brampton commercial building, police say.
Peel Regional Police say the extent of his injuries is not known. Emergency crews responded to the two-alarm fire near Steeles Avenue East and Dixie Road shortly after 9:30 p.m. Residents in the area told police they heard loud explosions.
Steeles Avenue East, between Dixie and Bramlea Roads has been closed. Police say they will be evacuating a building east of the fire.
A CN Rail track near the fire has also been closed in order to avoid debris hitting passing trains, Const. Fiona Thivierge told CP24 on Wednesday.
"There are large propane (tanks) in the area and that would be our concern."
