Just as the weather warms up, the City of Toronto's golf courses have officially opened for the public. Golf lovers can now get in the spirit themselves and hit the links in the spring weather.
Humber Valley golf course is expecting a big crowd for the opening week. Moe Alvarez, a Pro Shop assistant at the Humber Valley golf course says that since it opened this morning at 8 a.m. there has already been roughly 65 golfers and they are expecting a lot more in the evening.
All five courses are kicking off golf season as temperatures warm up. Rain is expected throughout the week but Wednesday will be sunny with a high of 12 C. Humber Valley golf course says they average 150 golfers per day during the week, and warm spring weather will help boost those numbers.
These are the five city-owned golf courses:
- Dentonia: 781 Victoria Park Avenue
- Don Valley: 4200 Yonge St.
- Humber Valley: Albion Road and Beattie Avenue
- Scarlett Woods: Eglinton Avenue West and Jane Street
- Tam O’Shanter: Birchmount Road north of Shepphard Avenue East
"This is a great opportunity for people to relax, have fun, get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors without spending a lot of money," said Coun. Norm Kelly in a news release.
