A man in his mid-20s was shot and killed in broad daylight in Mississauga on Friday morning.

Peel police were called to a residential neighbourhood on the north side of Eglinton Avenue, west of Winston Churchill Boulevard, just before 11:00 a.m. where the man was shot while on the sidewalk.

The victim was taken to Credit Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

"We don't believe it was a random shooting," Const. Kathy Weylie said Friday.

The victim's identity has not yet been released. Police won't say where he was hit or how many times he was shot.

Police are looking for two male suspects. Homicide investigators are expected to release a description of the men after interviewing witnesses.

Weylie said it is important for people to keep in mind that the suspects are probably armed and dangerous.

Police are not sure if the shooters fled on foot or drove away in a vehicle.

Any witnesses who may have been in the area during the incident are asked to contact police at 905-453-3311 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
