A key stretch of Toronto's north-south subway line will be shut down this weekend as the transit commission conducts more track work on the Yonge subway line.

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) plans to close a portion of the line from Eglinton Station to Bloor Station on Saturday and Sunday. Regular subway service will resume on Monday, October 31, 2011.

The closure comes as the TTC continues construction on a double cross-over section of subway track south of St. Clair Station on the Yonge-University-Spadina line. The cross-over will allow subway trains to turn back at St. Clair Station if there is a disruption to subway service.

Bus service will operate between Bloor-Yonge and Eglinton Stations, stopping at Bloor, Rosedale, Summerhill, St. Clair and Davisville stations, and will enter the station at Eglinton.
