WOODSTOCK, Ont. - Drivers convicted of speeding on a section of Dundas Street in Woodstock, Ont., before April 14 may want to locate their tickets.

On that date, city council passed a bylaw reducing the speed limit on the section of the street east of Beards Lane to 60 kilometres an hour from 70.

The speed had been incorrectly posted as 60, and tickets issued would indicate a speed so many kilometres an hour over that limit -- not the actual limit of 70.

Depending on the speed, the difference could involve a higher fine and demerit points.

The provincial Ministry of Transportation advises drivers to take their tickets to court and ask that their case be reopened because of the bylaw change.

Drivers should also contact their insurance companies.
