Toronto homicide detectives are investigating after a woman's lifeless body was found in a TTC stairwell early Sunday morning.
Police were called to the scene near the Bloor-Yonge subway station at about 2 a.m. after a security worker made the grisly discovery.
The cause of death hasn't been released, but Det. Sgt. Chris Buck told reporters there was "visible trauma" to the body.
The woman, believed to be in her 20s or 30s, has not yet been identified.
Buck couldn't confirm earlier reports that the victim had been shot. He said investigators have a large crime scene to process.
Police cordoned off the area near the Xerox building at 33 Bloor St.
"We're appealing to the public to think back if they were in this area here, on Hayden Street (at the rear of the building)," Buck said.
Investigators are reviewing the building's surveillance cameras for clues.
A TTC subway station was the scene of two violent attacks earlier this month.
Two men were stabbed, one fatally, at the Kennedy subway station in two separate attacks just days apart.
A 26-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing.
The incident prompted TTC authorities to review its security measures.
TTC chairman Adam Giambrone says the commission will be installing more cameras and special constables in the coming months.
