A young woman suffered injuries to her wrist Monday after glass from a broken panel on a condo balcony fell and struck her.

CTV Toronto's Tamara Cherry, reporting at the scene, said the woman told her that the glass struck her wrist at about 11:40 a.m. at Bay and Grenville Streets.

Toronto EMS paramedics treated the victim's injuries at the scene before taking her away in an ambulance, she said.

Toronto police have closed the area to traffic on Bay Street between Grenville and Grosvenor Streets. That area is just north of College Street.

"We are guarding the area and insuring no one else is injured," Const. Wendy Drummond told CTVNews.ca.

Cherry said witnesses in the area told her that they first heard a whoosh and then the sound of crashing sound.

The broken balcony pane is visible at the scene, she said.

This incident happened at a condominium on the southern side of Grenville Street. Falling glass was also reported from another condo building to the north but no one was injured in those incidents.
