A woman died after she was rushed to hospital Monday night in York Region, apparently having suffered a slashed throat.

Police and paramedics were called to a home on a quiet country road near Sideroad 17 and Dufferin Street in King Township at about 7:45 p.m.

CTV Toronto's Scott Lightfoot reports that it is believed the woman's throat was slashed. Another person inside the home was arrested.

Neighbours told CTV News they have never heard trouble in the home before, and this is the first time they have seen police there.

The victim was taken to Southlake Regional Health Centre without vital signs.

17 Sideroad was expected to be closed for most of the night as police investigate.
