An 81-year-old woman has died from her injuries after a vehicle struck her in a Mississauga store's parking lot and then punched through a wall before coming to a stop inside.

The victim, Eugenia Konat, was rushed to hospital but doctors were unable to save her life.

Police are still investigating why the driver lost control, and no charges have been laid.

Const. J.P. Valade of Peel Regional Police told ctvtoronto.ca that the call came in at 2:38 p.m.

"A vehicle was in the parking lot of the HomeSense and it was travelling west when it lost control," he said.

"The vehicle then struck a pedestrian in the parking lot. The vehicle then struck a wall of the HomeSense and then went inside the building," Valade said, adding, "I don't know what the threshold would be to go through a brick wall."

The female driver of the silver Subaru Forester SUV was conscious and in the vehicle at the store. The driver has been taken to hospital for precautionary reasons, Valade said, adding it doesn't appear anyone else suffered any injuries.

He didn't know if the driver and pedestrian were known to each other.

HomeSense is located at 1865 Lakeshore Dr. in Clarkson Village.
