Police say they have arrested a woman and charged her with first-degree murder in connection with a year-old homicide.

On Sept. 24, 2009, police found the body of Michel Joseph Claude LeBlanc in his Port Hope home.

The community on the north shore of Lake Ontario sits about 100 kilometres east of Toronto.

An autopsy found that LeBlanc, 53, had been murdered.

On Tuesday, the Ontario Provincial Police and Port Hope Police Service said that  they had arrested and charged Catherine Donna Mary Andrus, 50, also of Port Hope.

She is scheduled to make a first court appearance in nearby Cobourg on Tuesday afternoon.

First-degree murder charges are laid when police and the Crown feel there is evidence of planning and deliberation in the crime.

Police say they are continuing to investigate the case. They ask anyone with information to call the Port Hope Police at (905) 885-8123 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
