A 40-year-old woman from southwestern Ontario has been charged in the death of an infant girl.
Five-month-old Brookelyn Hopkins was rushed unresponsive to London's Children's Hospital on Aug. 8. The child died the following day.
Ontario Provincial Police have charged Melissa Garland, of Ingersoll, Ont., with failing to provide the necessities of life.
Garland, a neighbour of the little girl's parents, was caring for the child at the time of the incident, police said.
The parents took the distressed baby to an Ingersoll hospital around noon. She was rushed to London and authorities were called, police said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
