A woman has been charged after two alleged incidents of botched Botox injections were reported in the Toronto area, police said.
Victims told police a woman fraudulently advertised services as a registered nurse on the online classified ads website Kijiji.
Police allege that she told potential clients she had the medical credentials to perform Botox injections, and would then arrange to meet them at their homes, businesses, or at hotels, where they were injected with a substance in exchange for cash.
Police said they are unsure whether the substance was actually Botox, and whether it was safe or had been stored correctly.
Officers said two people have come forward to report their experiences, but added that they believe there may be more victims.
"Both sustained adverse reactions and possible long-term damage effects from the botched procedure," police said in a statement Wednesday.
Thirty-year-old Shiva Ashkani of Brampton has been charged with two counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
