From wind warnings, freezing rain and winter storms, the weather in Ontario is anything but settled.

Environment Canada issued warnings for most of the province Tuesday evening.

A wind warning was in effect for cities including Toronto, Brantford, St. Catharines, Grimsby, northern Niagara region, Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Halton Hills, Milton and Mississauga.

Wind gusts of up to 90 kilometres an hour were forecast for the area. Overnight, the temperature was expected to fall to -7 degrees Celsius in Toronto.

Stronger winds may persist a little longer near Lake Erie and Eastern Lake Ontario, Environment Canada said.

In southern Bruce County and northern and southern Grey County a flash freeze warning was issued by Environment Canada.

Temperatures were forecasted to fall below zero, causing wet surfaces to freeze. Near Lake Huron, temperatures were expected to fall by 6 p.m., and near Lake Simcoe, around 8 p.m.

There was also a freezing rain warning for much of eastern Ontario, including Bancroft, Brockville and Cornwall.

Environment Canada said that the St. Lawrence Valley could see up to eight hours of freezing rain.

A freezing rain warning was also been issued for Bracebridge and Haliburton and area.

Meanwhile, the Bruce Peninsula, Parry Sound and northern Haliburton County faced a heavy snowfall. Up to 20 centimetres of snow was forecast by midnight for much of the region.

In Ottawa, heavy snow was expected, followed by freezing rain.
