WHITBY, Ont. - Durham regional police say a man from Whitby, Ont., who was wanted in an identity theft case has surrendered.
Addie Downey, 33, is accused of stealing the identity of a Collingwood man and applying for credit cards under his name.
Police allege a search of the suspect's home Friday turned up two handguns, drugs and evidence of the identity theft. They also arrested co-accused Neetu Singh, 34.
But Downey, who was out on bail on charges related to a shooting incident in Toronto, was not at home.
A warrant was issued for him on six gun-related offences, two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, six counts of breaching recognizance and seven fraud-related charges. Police say he surrendered Sunday night.
Singh also faces a number of charges, including drug, firearms and fraud-related offences.
