The annual Toronto Honda Indy race has roared into town and that means drivers in the city will have to grit their teeth as road closures are in effect.

From Friday morning until Sunday at midnight, both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Lake Shore Boulevard will be closed between British Columbia Drive and Stratchan Avenue.

Anyone hoping to catch a glimpse of Canadian actor Dan Akroyd, who will be the grand marshal for the event, should note that Strachan Avenue from Lake Shore Boulevard to Fleet Street will also be closed until Sunday at midnight.

Other events taking place this weekend include:

The Taste of the Lawrence

Lawrence Avenue from Warden Avenue to Birchmound Road will be closed from 11 a.m. Friday to Sunday at midnight

Salsa on St. Clair

St. Clair Avenue from Winona Drive to Christie Street will be closed in both directions from 8 a.m. Saturday to 11 p.m. Sunday.

Hwy 401 lane reductions

Festival and weekend activities aside, a chunk of Highway 401 will be closed for construction. From 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, the westbound collector lanes of Highway 401 will be reduced to one lane from The Basketweave, west of Keele Street, to Highway 400.

The westbound collector lanes will also be reduced to two lanes from Highway 400 to Weston Road

TTC disruptions

And for those who are hoping they'll be able to steer clear of traffic by taking the TTC this weekend, be aware that the Bloor-Danforth subway line will start running at noon on Sunday instead of the usual 9 a.m. between St. George and Pape stations due to construction.

The TTC said shuttle buses will service the stops between St. George and Pape stations. Shuttle buses will also run between St. George and Main Street stations, stopping only at Broadview and Bloor-Yonge stations.
