ORONO, Ont. - Environment Canada has confirmed that a weak tornado touched down east of Orono, Ont., northeast of Oshawa.

The agency says there are no reports of damage when the twister hit late Tuesday afternoon in a farmer's field.

It has been given a rating of F0 -- at the bottom of the scale -- which suggests speeds of 60 to 110 kilometres an hour.

Environment Canada says it received photo and video evidence of the tornado.
