The family of a man killed on New Year's Day 2012 is asking for the public's help to solve the two-year-old cold case.

Mike Pimentel, 24, was involved in a confrontation with a man and woman in Liberty Village on Jan. 1, 2012, police said. He was stabbed several times, and died in hospital later the same day.

Though detectives gathered several clues at the time, including surveillance video showing two suspects, the case went cold.

At a news conference Wednesday, police released three new photos, hoping someone will recognize and identify the pair of suspects.

"We need closure," the victim's sister Carla Pimentel said Wednesday. "If there is anybody out there who knows anything, please help our family."

Anyone with more information is asked to call police at 416-808-7400, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477 (TIPS).
