Homicide investigators have issued a murder warrant in the hit-and-run death of young man in the Entertainment District.

Police say that early on Saturday, 20-year-old Vincent Dang was intentionally run-down by a dark SUV near Blue Jays Way following an altercation in a night club.

After the fatal collision, the SUV was seen speeding from the scene. Police believe that several people were inside the SUV.

On Monday, a second-degree murder warrant was issued for Naveen Ariaratnam, 26. Though police say that Ariaratnam is of no fixed address, he has lived in both Toronto and St. Catharines.

The suspect is described as a thin, brown-skinned man, aged between 19-25, with a moustache and a goatee. He was seen wearing a black jacket with stripes on the collar and sleeve.

On Sunday, the Dang family told CTV Toronto that their son was a business student at York University who lived at home north of the city in Concord.

"He promised me, ‘Daddy, don't worry, I will graduate. You wait and see. I will.' And that's the last conversation I had with him in the last moment," said father Huyn Dang Sunday.

Officers said that Dang had been at the Rockwood Club, located at 31 Mercer Street near Blue Jays Way, before the incident.

Later, as Dang stood on a nearby sidewalk with friends, an SUV sped down the street, pulled a quick U-turn and then slammed into him.

Friends allege that the death is the result of a “stupid fight.

Police ask that witnesses call homicide detectives at (416) 808-7398 with any information.

No allegations against Ariaratnam have been proven in a court of law.
