A nation-wide warrant has been issued for a 26-year-old man following a birthday party shooting that left one victim in hospital with critical injuries.

The suspect is wanted on charges of attempted murder, robbery with a firearm, endangering life and discharging a firearm.

The shooting occurred at a restaurant around 3 a.m. on Sunday near Shaw and Bloor Streets.

The suspect is described as a black male standing 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 and weighing 160 lbs. He has brown eyes and short black hair.

Police warn that the suspect, named Tsegai Ghebreigziabiher, may be armed and dangerous.

It's alleged that the incident unfolded in front of horrified guests at a birthday party, reportedly being held at the Pero restaurant near Christie Pits park.

At the scene, a car was found riddled with bullet holes and local residents were shocked by the violence.

Investigators also lifted fingerprints from a Toyota RAV4 with licence plates from the U.S. state of Maryland.

A man in his 30s was wounded in the shooting. He was sent to hospital where he was in critical but stable condition on Sunday.

Area residents reported hearing gunshots and screams.

Police believe that up to 50 people were at the party, and they are now seeking witnesses.

Those with information are asked to call police at (416) 808-1400.
