A man who was murdered inside a Mississauga parking garage earlier this week has been identified as a 31-year-old Toronto man.

Nam Huu Pham was found dead inside the garage near Grand Park Drive and Burnhamthorpe Road at around 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police say their investigation has determined that Pham was meeting with an unidentified culprit inside the garage when the culprit assaulted him and then fled in a motor vehicle.

Police say that Pham then collapsed a short distance away, where he was discovered by a citizen.

In a news release issued on Friday morning, police said that Pham’s injuries were “consistent with an edged weapon attack.”

“We received information from the security that there was a male that had been injured and at that point we attended the scene,” Peel police Const. Mark Fischer said Friday. “(We) found the male with obvious signs of trauma and tried to resuscitate, however, that was unsuccessful."

No suspect description has been released at this point.

A resident at the building told CTV Toronto that his girlfriend is too afraid to go into the parking garage alone ever since.

“Whenever she comes home, she wants me to pick her up from the Shoppers Drug Mart and take her down to the parking garage,” he said.

According to residents, the gate that guards the underground garage opens automatically as vehicles approach it.

“Any stranger could drive in and hide behind the columns or God knows,” one woman told CTV Toronto.

“You’re afraid to walk in, you never know who is in there,” another resident said.

Police say they are looking to speak with anyone who have been in the Grand Park Drive and Burnhamthorpe Road area at the time of the murder.
