A 19-year-old Parkdale murder victim died as a result of being shot in the torso, according to the results of a post-mortem examination.

Toronto police say that Bernard Christian Derro died after being shot in a Jameson Avenue apartment building at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday evening. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Derro's post-mortem examination took place Monday, police said.

A 20-year-old man was also shot in the same incident, though police say he suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Both victims are known to police.

Police have previously said that gunfire broke out after three men stormed a ground-floor balcony. A drug-related robbery is one possible motive for the shooting that police are investigating.

The case remains under investigation.
