Trucks set ablaze in ‘targeted arson’ at Surrey business: police

Three five-ton trucks were set on fire outside of a Surrey business early Tuesday morning, according to authorities.

Officers were called to the scene on 78th Avenue between 132 and 134 Street around 4:30 a.m.

“When the officers arrived, Surrey Fire Service was on scene and in the process of extinguishing fires on three separate five-ton box trucks belonging to a business. There was no other damage to any vehicles or nearby buildings,” according to a news release from the Surrey Police Service.

The motive is unknown but the incident is being described as a “targeted arson,” and the SPS says investigators believe there were two suspects.

Police described the suspects as “possibly male” and between 16 and 40 years old, both dressed all in black and wearing face masks. They are alleged to have left the area in a “dark-coloured sedan.”
