Toronto police are busy investigating two separate shootings that left a man dead outside a Bay St. condo tower and five people injured outside a banquet hall in Scarborough.

A man in his 30s was shot in the back outside 1001 Bay St. near St. Joseph St. around 3:20 a.m. The victim has not yet been identified.

"We found a gun in the area. We don't know if it's related to this homicide," Toronto Police Staff Sgt. Egidio Rosato told ctvtoronto.ca.

He said police are interviewing one person, but aren't sure whether he is connected to the case.

Rosato said he could not confirm reports about two limousines being seen outside the building before the shooting.

Murders are rare on Bay St., but Rosato said there was a lot of traffic at the time because it is a major street.

About 15 minutes after the downtown murder, police were called to a second shooting across town in Scarborough at the Atlantic Party Hall on Ellesmere Rd. near Midland Ave.

Police found three victims who had been shot. A man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. A man and a woman who were found outside the hall were taken to hospital by ambulance.

Later, another man and woman drove themselves to separate hospitals where they were also treated and released.

"It sounds like it was a party and someone came in shooting," Rosato said.

No suspects have been identified yet in either of the shootings.
