ST. CATHARINES, Ont. -- Niagara regional police say they're looking for two suspects in an alleged human trafficking case involving a girl under the age of 16.

They say officers first encountered one of the suspects in July 2018 after he allegedly fled police who had stopped him while driving in St. Catharines, Ont.

Police say they later learned that he was allegedly involved in a human-trafficking case along with another man from St. Catharines.

Police say the two suspects may have fled the country at some point, but have since returned to Canada and may be in either the Niagara region or the Greater Toronto Area.

The two men are wanted on numerous charges in connection with the alleged victim, who police say is under 16.

Charges include trafficking in persons under 18, making and publishing child pornography, householder permitting prohibited sexual behaviour and sexual interference.
