Two doctors from the Toronto area face allegations they drugged a woman and sexually assaulted her earlier this month.

A 23-year-old woman told police that she met the two men at a hotel bar near Queen Street and University Avenue on Sunday, Feb. 13.

The victim told police that she agreed to meet with the two doctors to seek career advice.

After meeting at the hotel, the group went to a second bar in the area of Wellington Street and Spadina Avenue, police said. It was at the second bar when an "unknown substance" was placed in the woman's drink, police said.

The woman told police that she was then taken back to the hotel and sexually assaulted by the two men.

Suganthan Kayilasanathan and Amitabh Chauhan, both 32, face charges of administering a noxious thing and gang sexual assault.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario lists Kayilasanathan as practicing in Markham.

The College states that Chauhan is a post-grad student in the department of plastic surgery at McMaster University in Hamilton.

Initially, the pair were to appear in court on Saturday. But Chauhan's lawyer, Sean Robichaud, told ctvtoronto.ca that a bail hearing will now take place on Wednesday.

"To my knowledge, Dr. Chauhan intends to plead not guilty at his earliest opportunity, and looks forward to defending these allegations in court," Robichaud said in a telephone interview Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, police are probing the possibility that there could be more victims from previous incidents involving the suspects.
