Police are asking for witnesses to come forward after a collision in Caledon, Ont. that resulted in the death of two people and injured five others.

The incident happened at about 10:40 p.m. Saturday on Highway 10, south of Forks of the Credit Road.

Ontario Provincial Police say a northbound pickup truck veered into Hwy. 10’s southbound lanes “for unknown reasons” and struck a minivan carrying eight people.

Two of the van’s occupants were pronounced dead on scene, while five others suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious, according to Peel Regional Paramedic Services.

Police have not released the identities of those who died.

An investigation into the incident has prompted the closure of Highway 10, between Charlestown Sideroad and Old Base Line. It’s not clear when the road will reopen.
