The TTC and GO Transit are boosting service tonight as Toronto plays host to the MLS Cup final at BMO Field and UFC 206 at the Air Canada Centre.

GO Transit says it will have extra trains with connections on standby on both the Lakeshore east and west lines tonight. The trains will be put into service as the events finish.

Extra station staff and transit safety officers will also be on duty to assist with directing customers and managing the larger than normal crowds that are expected.

“We encourage transit customers to be patient and to take their time when the matches finish—trains will wait for you after the game so there is no need to rush,” Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins told CP24 in an email. “Please don’t risk serious injury or causing others to be injured by running and shoving through a crowded station.”

In addition to the increase in service on the Lakeshore east and west lines, the TTC is also boosting service on its routes that service the BMO field area. The TTC says that extra service will be in place on the 29 Dufferin bus, the 63 Ossington bus, the 509 Harbourfront streetcar and the 511 Bathurst streetcar as of 5 p.m.

The 63 Ossington bus, however, will not be able to access the Liberty Village area due to a planned street party.
