SMITHVILLE, Ont. - Niagara regional police say a man and woman from Toronto are facing charges following a marijuana grow-op bust west of St. Catharines, Ont.
Police say officers searched a home on Rock Street in Smithville and found a "sophisticated marijuana factory."
The entire basement of the home was separated into growing areas, a chemical mixing area and an electrical area.
Investigators say the main floor of the raised bungalow had been designed for processing marijuana plants to a finished product.
Police seized 1,100 plants in various stages of growth, processed marijuana, and $60,000 in growing equipment.
Bian Feng, 37, and Michael Chung, 57, are each charged with production of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of theft.
