An aspiring Toronto rapper who was found guilty of four counts of first-degree murder has been sentenced to life in prison.

Mark Garfield Moore, 31, was convicted last month in the 2010 shooting deaths of Jahmeel Spence, Mike James, Courthney Facey and Carl Cole, which all took place over a span of 75 days. Police said Moore didn't know three of the victims, but knew Cole.

Following last month's verdict, lead investigator Det.-Sgt. Hank Idsinga told reporters that the shootings were "irrational" and "cold-blooded."

He pointed to some of Moore's lyrics, which were introduced as evidenced during the trial.

"(They) talked about him being able to … 'shake the streets,'" Idsinga told reporters in May. "During a couple of the murders, it looks like that's exactly what he was trying to do."

Moore has been handed a sentence of life, without the chance of parole for 25 years. He is currently serving a 12-year sentence for a violent jewelry store robbery.
