Toronto police are investigating a murder that took place overnight in the city's east end.

Police say a man in his 20s was found lying on Antrim Crescent, near Kennedy Road in Scarborough, with serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital but was declared dead soon after arriving.

Investigators have not arrested any suspects but they believe the murder victim was involved in a fight with a group of men.

Authorities have not released the victim's name but he is Toronto's 28th homicide victim of 2009.

Earlier this year, police investigated the murder of a Centennial College student at an apartment building on Antrim Crescent. Alexis Eracleous was gunned down on Feb. 10 after two people knocked on his door.

Police have two suspects in custody in that case.
