Toronto police have released the name of a man who was found shot dead in a vehicle in a quiet east-end neighbourhood Thursday.

Police have identified the man has Arfi Berkedle, 18, of Toronto.

Police were called to a cul-de-sac on Irvine Road in the Lawson Road and Centennial Road area in Scarborough shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday on reports of gunfire.

When police arrived they found Berkedle shot in the head in a silver Cadillac sedan with heavily tinted windows.

Toronto police's forensics unit worked through the night combing the area for clues. The car was towed from the scene, with the body still inside, shortly before 5 am.

One man, who identified himself as Dave, told CP24 that he noticed the car parked on the street when he arrived home at about 10 p.m.

"I saw a car down the street and it looked suspicious to me," he said. "The way it was sitting there it looked kind of funny. I was going to drive down there and check it out but I didn't bother."

Police said they are still looking for more information in the case and they're asking anyone to call tips in to Toronto police at 416-808-7400 or to Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
