A 15-year-old boy is dead after being shot multiple times inside a Regent Park apartment building Friday afternoon.

Police have identified the teen as Tyson Bailey, whose body was found in a stairwell on the 13th floor of the building on Whiteside Place, near Dundas and River streets.

When paramedics arrived on the scene around 2 p.m, the elevator wasn’t working properly so they had to carry Bailey all the way down the stairs.

He was taken to St. Michael’s Hospital and pronounced dead there.

Det. Sgt. Justin Vander Heyden said it’s a “mystery” why Bailey was in that stairwell.

The same building was the scene of another fatal shooting in 2010, when two male teenagers were gunned down in the lobby after leaving a party.

Bailey had no criminal record and there is “absolutely nothing” in his background or lifestyle to indicate that he had any gang affiliations, Vander Heyden said.

“By all accounts, he was a fine young man.”

Police are now looking for two “persons of interest.” One of them is a white man between 25 and 30 years old described as tall and skinny, with acne or a “pimply complexion.”

The second man is black, between 25 and 30 years old, described as short. He was last seen wearing a thick black jacket.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or call Crime Stoppers.
