Toronto police are asking the public for their help to locate a 28-year-old man who they say is missing from a local facility.

Police said Jegamar Thavanayagapathy was last seen Saturday at 4:30 p.m. near Gerrard Street East and Main Street, but they did not identify the facility he walked away from.

They described the man as an "elopee."

Police said Thavanayagapathy is deaf and "without speech."

Investigators are concerned about his safety.

He is south Asian, five-foot-10 and 180 pounds with a dark complexion, short black hair, and a short black beard.

He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue hoodie, red and black shirt and black shoes, police said Monday in a news release.

Anyone with information about Thavanayagapathy’s whereabouts is asked to call 14 Division at 416-808-1400 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
