Police say that the victim of a weekend shooting in northwest Toronto was killed by two separate gunmen in a targeted execution.

Det. Tam Bui told reporters Wednesday that they are looking to identify two white males who were with victim Thuan ‘Tony’ Nguyen, 25, shortly before he was shot and killed early Sunday.

Officers are also looking for two dark sedans that were seen leaving the area.

Nguyen was gunned down outside VY Vy Restaurant and Lounge on Signet Drive, near Finch Avenue and Highway 400, around 5:15 a.m. Sunday morning.

Police said around 100 people were at the lounge for a promoted party, including a professional photographer.

Officers are now reviewing nearly 500 photographs taken during the party to identify any possible witnesses, Bui said.

The party goers were part of a “tight-knit” community and would therefore recognize anyone who seemed out of place at the party, he added.

Bui said Nguyen had an “extensive criminal record for drugs,” including trafficking and possession charges and was currently before the courts on several drug-related charges.

Anyone who attended the party and who has any information about the case is asked to contact police at 416-808-7415 or through Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
