Toronto police are searching for two suspects after a 28-year-old man was fatally stabbed while getting out of the shower during a home invasion at a known drug den.

The fatal stabbing happened in the city’s north end just before 9:30 p.m on Thursday in an apartment building on Bogert Avenue, near Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue.

Police say two men entered the first floor unit through an outside door, and found four people inside including the victim’s girlfriend and the victim’s roommate.

According to police, a gun-wielding suspect approached one of the occupants, demanding drugs and cash. The second suspect, armed with a knife, walked into the bathroom and confronted a man as he was getting out of the shower, police said.

“We believe as the deceased was coming out of the shower, he was accosted by the suspect, stabbed three times,” Insp. Ken Taylor told reporters outside the apartment late Friday morning.

The victim was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police say the two male suspects fled the area.

They are both described as having light-brown complexions and standing approximately five-foot-eight.

Investigators believe the suspects were lurking in the area prior to the home invasion.

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call investigators at 416-808-3200 or 416-808-7400, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).

Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage seized from the area.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

In a separate incident Thursday night, a man in his 20s was killed in a shooting near Old Finch Avenue and Morningside Drive at about 8:30 p.m.
