A 31-year-old Toronto man is facing seven charges in connection with a sexual assault investigation that began last summer, police say.

Investigators allege that on July 6, a 25-year-old woman and two of her friends were in the Dundas Street and Winston Churchill Boulevard area of Mississauga when two men in a van offered them a ride home.

While in the vehicle, the men allegedly sexually assaulted one of the women. Two of the women were then allowed to leave.

The men allegedly drove away with the third woman in the van where police allege two of the men sexually assaulted her.

A passerby contacted police after hearing a woman call for help in the area of Weston Road and Black Creek Drive.

Byron Reid, 31, surrendered to police on Monday. He is facing seven charges including kidnapping, forcible confinement, and two counts of gang sexual assault.

None of the charges against him have been proven in court.

Reid appeared in court on Monday.
