A Toronto man is scheduled to appear in court Thursday after being arrested in connection to an east-end shooting that injured one woman and her dog.

Police said the 34-year-old woman was shot in the knee Wednesday while inside her home on Woodgarden Crescent, near Morningside Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East.

The woman fled the home and called police, and was later taken to hospital.

Her dog—a two-year-old Mastiff named “Duchess”-- was also treated for a small bullet wound to the neck.

The shooting prompted a temporary lockdown at seven area schools. A firearm was found by police during a search of the area.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on a bus en route to Ottawa later on Wednesday and charged in connection to the incident.

Andrew Toye, of Toronto, faces a total of 15 charges, including aggravated assault, killing or injuring an animal other than cattle, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of LSD.
