TORONTO - A 28-year-old man is facing charges for allegedly beating up a man in downtown Toronto who refused to give him spare change.

Police say the 37-year-old victim was approached by the suspect early Friday and asked for money.

The victim kept walking, but the panhandler persisted.

When the victim finally reached into his pocket, the suspect allegedly started punching him in the head and kicking and kneeing him in the face.

After the victim fell to the ground, police allege the suspect kept kicking him, stomped on his head and robbed him.
