A 68-year-old Toronto man has been charged in a collision that left a Citytv cameraman with life-threatening injuries.

Police say that on Nov. 9, the 58-year-old cameraman was crossing Kipling Avenue just south of Albion Road when he was hit by a Lincoln Continental heading north.

The driver of the Lincoln was arrested at the scene and taken to nearby 22 Division for questioning. He was later released.

The cameraman, identified as Bill Atanasoff, was crossing the street to get to an apartment unit where a man had plunged from a fifth-floor balcony during a police operation. Other media were at the scene at the time of the collision.

Samuel Gregoris is facing charges of criminal negligence causing bodily harm and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, police announced on Friday. Gregoris will appear in court on January 18.

Atanasoff remains in intensive care at Sunnybrook hospital.
