TORONTO - The Tibetan Freedom Torch is in Toronto today on the last leg of its Canadian tour before continuing its worldwide trek to Tibet.

About 150 supporters gathered outside Toronto's Chinese Consulate before marching through the downtown core with the torch.

Organizers say the torch will eventually visit more than 50 cities before reaching Tibet on the eve of the Summer Olympics in Beijing.

They say their torch represents worldwide support to have Tibet freed from Chinese control.

The torch began its global tour in March in Athens and passed through several European countries before stopping in Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa and Montreal.

It's still set to visit the United States, Uruguay, Australia, Mexico, Taiwan and India.
