Three people are in serious condition following a near-drowning at the indoor pool of a Best Western Hotel in Gananoque, Ont.

Police in Gananoque -- a community of about 5,300 people located 286 kilometres east of Toronto -- said Saturday in a news release that they responded to a morning 911 call, along with fire and ambulance personnel. They found the three to be VSA, meaning vital signs absent.

"CPR as commenced immediately upon arrival," it said.

The victims were taken to Kingston General Hospital.

CTV Toronto has learned the victims are a mother and her two daughters, one aged 11 and the other 14.

Her husband and two other children were having breakfast at the time of the accident.
