TORONTO -- Three people have been seriously injured in a shooting in North York Wednesday night.

Emergency crews were called to the area Shoreham Drive and Jane Street shortly before 8 p.m. for reports of shots fired.

Toronto Paramedic Services said three victims have been rushed to hospital in serious condition.

Police have not released any suspect information at this time.

Multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene, police said.

Earlier in the night, three people were injured in two separate shootings in north Etobicoke.

The three incidents prompted the Toronto Police Association to tweet that gun violence continues to be a daily occurrence this summer.

"Toronto is on track to beat last year’s record setting number of shootings," the association said.

There have been 296 shooting and firearm discharge incidents in the city so far this year, according to data from Toronto police.

By comparison, officers responded to 273 incidents at this time last year. Toronto recorded a total of 492 shootings in 2019.
