LITTLE CURRENT, Ont. - Provincial police say thousand of fish have been released in two incidents at a Manitoulin Island fish farm.
Police say nets were cut on fish cages belonging to Cold Water Fisheries located in the North Channel of Lake Huron just north of Little Current, Ont.
The first incident was reported on July 26, and police say about 25,000 rainbow trout were released into the North Channel.
Cold Water Fisheries discovered Wednesday that another cage net was cut and damaged and approximately 10,000 rainbow trout were released.
Police say the value of the lost fish is about $200,000.
The Manitoulin detachment says it has launched a major investigation and has called in the Northeast provincial police crime unit to assist.
