Two Brinks guards were robbed of cash and a firearm during a brazen daylight heist in the city's west end on Monday.

A pair of thieves held up the guards outside a grocery store on Albion Road., near Islington Avenue, at about 12:45 p.m., police said.

The culprits, one armed with a handgun, got away with an unknown quantity of cash. Police said the suspects also took a handgun from one of the guards.

No shots were fired and no one was hurt during the robbery. Police are still hunting for the two suspects.

A similar incident took place outside the same grocery store in August, 2004. Police said those thieves were inside the store with a shopping cart when they pulled a gun on the guard and made off with cash and a guard's gun.

Earlier this year, armed bandits robbed Securicor guards in two separate incidents in the west end and made off with a large quantity of cash.
