Three teens have been arrested and one has been charged with the attempted murder of a Toronto police officer during an incident in the city's west end on Saturday.

Toronto police officers were investigating several males in the Oakwood Avenue and Earlsdale Avenue area when the teens attempted to flee the scene. After a foot chase, police apprehended an 18-year-old, who has been charged with possession of cocaine. He is also facing three probation violation charges.

The 19-year-old, who is facing more than a dozen charges, was apprehended after he stumbled and dropped a loaded .38 calibre revolver.

During the foot pursuit, the young offender, who is also facing more than a dozen charges including the attempted murder charge, had a semi-automatic pistol and tried to shoot at an officer. The pistol malfunctioned and did not discharge. He was later apprehended and his weapon was seized.

Jamal Garrison, 18, Alex Frederick, 19, and the 17-year-old were scheduled to appear at Old City Hall court on Sunday.
