Two teenagers have been charged after disturbing video emerged showing a 15-year-old girl being slammed onto the sidewalk in Brampton, Ont.

Peel region police were called to Wexford Drive in Brampton shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday after a report of a fight. When officers arrived, they found an unconscious teenage girl on the ground.

The girl, later identified as Rochelle Lewis, was examined by paramedics, and regained consciousness before being taken to hospital to be treated for a concussion.

Lewis told reporters she didn't remember exactly what happened, but said she was arguing with a group of friends before she was injured.

Though she didn't remember details, the incident was captured in a video that was posted online. The video appears to show a man lifting a girl off her feet, then slamming her onto the sidewalk as a group of people watch.

In the video, the impact appears to knock the girl unconscious, as she stays still after hitting the ground.

"I think something was said to that guy that threw me down. I don't know, I don't remember. I just woke up in the ambulance," she said Tuesday.

Peel Regional Police said they were aware of the video.

On Wednesday morning, police said two teenage boys had been charged as a result of the incident.

Joseph Gordon, 18, of Brampton turned himself in Tuesday night, and was charged with assault causing bodily harm. He appeared in a Brampton courthouse on Wednesday and was released on bail.

Gordon's mother, Sandra, said she has seen the video, and was up all night worrying about Lewis' health.

"I thank God that nothing (worse) has happened to her because then it would be two lives going down not just my son," said Gordon.

"Her life would've have been lost and her parents would've have been crying, and right now I am crying in my heart," she added.

A 16-year-old, who cannot be identified under the Young Offenders Act, also faces a charge of assault causing bodily harm.

He was arrested and released on a promise to appear. His first court appearance is scheduled for May 12.
