A 19-year-old man was stabbed to death Saturday night after a dispute at a house party in Brampton's west end erupted into a brawl.

Amrinder Singh Atwal was at the home on Culture Crescent, near Williams Parkway and Chinguacousy Road, when the party spilled out onto the street, Peel Region police said.

As many as 30 people were involved in the brawl that began at about 10:15 p.m., detectives said.

Several people were wounded in the fight, including Atwal, who suffered a stab wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at hospital.

Neighbours Rob and Samantha Voth said the ordeal was terrifying.

"(One teenager) was down, turtling, with two (attackers) holding him down and punching him and another one kicking him," Rob told CTV's Jim Junkin.

"It was mass chaos out here last night," added Samantha. "There were people screaming, there were people running. It was very scary. You don't expect something like that to happen on your front lawn."

Witnesses said some of the teenagers armed themselves with broken beer bottles.

Police told the Toronto Star the altercation came as a result of a "pre-existing dispute between individuals."

A murder weapon was not immediately recovered.

No arrests have been made and suspect descriptions have not been made available.
