Police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old man in the death of his father at a North York condo.

Uchenna Onochie, 18, was arrested on Sunday, after a stand-off at Finch Station that lasted several hours. He has been charged with second-degree murder of his father. He was treated in hospital for knife wounds, police say.

The body of Aloy Onochie, 61, was found late Saturday at the condo where they both lived. Police say Onochie’s body showed signs of “blunt force trauma.”

The condo is located at 39 Pemberton Avenue, in the Yonge Street and Finch Avenue area. The building is connected by an underground path to Finch Station.

Det. Rob North of Toronto police will not say who alerted police about Aloy Onochie’s death, but confirms it was not his son.

North says police are not looking for any other suspects. However, anyone with information in the case is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400, or to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477.
