Only one suspect was charged after police arrested eight people in relation to a Victoria Day robbery at Ashbridges Bay.

The victim had just watched the evening's fireworks display and was walking along Queen Street East, near Kingston Road, when he was approached by a group of people who demanded his necklace.

He then flagged down a passing police car.

Eight people were taken into custody near the scene of the robbery and a fake gun was found nearby, said Toronto Police Const. Tony Vella.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with robbery, possession of property obtained by crime and use of an imitation firearm. His name can not be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Toronto police say they have also charged two teenage boys with using fireworks as weapons, after reports that four youths were shooting fireworks at passing cars and a Toronto bus.

The teens were arrested after a brief foot chase.

The boys, 16 and 17, are charged with assault with a weapon, common nuisance and weapons dangerous.
